Food Diversity - How to make Shakarkand kheer - The complete Recipie from Gujrat

Ingredients

  • 1 large sized sweet potato (shakarkand)
  • 1 ltr milk
  • 1/2 kg condensed milk or
  • 10 to 15 chopped cashewnuts (kaju)
  • 10 to 15 almonds (badam) , chopped
  • 10 to 15 raisins (kismis)
  • 10 to 15 pistachios
  • 1 cup sugar
  • saffron (kesar) strands
  • 3 to 5 pods of cardamoms

Steps

  • Peel of the skin of sweet potato and grate it properly.
  • Boil milk in a large pan
  • Put the grated sweet potato into it and stir for 15mins.
  • Put condensed milk/ khoya
  • Put sugar and stir again for 5mins or so
  • Then put all dry fruits and stir again for 5 mins till the kheer is ready
  • Cool it off and serve garnished with pista and almonds
